Possible Faults occurred to Battery

Power supply is the power for supplying electrical energy to construction machinery. Generally, construction machinery is equipped with two sets of power supply equipment: namely the battery and generator and regulator. Two sets of power supply equipment: The battery is the top power supply equipment used to supply power to the electrical equipment of construction machinery when the initiator is not operating. It is characterized by supplying large current. For example, when the initiator is started, the electrical energy required by the initiator is supplied by the battery.

The generator is the second power supply device. It only generates power after the initiator is started. In addition to supplying electrical power to the electrical equipment, the remaining energy is also charged into the battery to make up for the power consumed when the initiator is started. It is used for storage and reuse in the future. The electrical equipment for construction machinery are characterized by: single-wire system, low voltage, DC current, and parallel circuits.

After being used for extended period, improperly used or repaired, or for other reasons, the electrical equipment will mostly have problems, often manifested as poor quality of work, or even non-operation. Common faults and treatment methods are as shown in the following figure: From the above figure, we can see that common faults of lead-acid batteries include external faults and internal faults.

The external faults of lead battery refer to cracks in the casing or cover plate, dry cracking of the sealant, and loosening or corrosion of electrodes. Internal faults include plate vulcanization, active material drop, self-discharge, and battery plate hogging. The technical conditions of lead battery have great impact on the reliability of operation of electrical equipment for construction machinery. If the lead storage battery breaks down, the quality of operation by electrical equipment will decline.
